Congress is now working on bills for the next federal budget that begins on Oct 1. The House of Representatives continues to try to attach provisions that a fiscal commission be part of any agreement on spending bills. Why is this a problem?
- A fiscal commission would be proposing cuts to programs like Social Security and Medicare with no amendments or proper debate.
- They are trying to cut our programs behind closed doors and without any public input.

Message: I am a constituent and I urge you to oppose H.R. 5779, the Fiscal Commission Act; and any other proposals calling for a “fiscal commission.” Any proposals to cut Social Security, Medicare or any other safety net programs must be made public with a chance for constituent feedback prior to any vote.
