SMP Mission

The New York State Senior Medicare Patrol (NYS SMP) mission is to empower and assist Medicare beneficiaries, their families, and caregivers to prevent, detect, and report health care fraud, errors, and abuse through outreach, counseling, and education.

The New York State SMP provides education and information on how to address healthcare errors, fraud and abuse for Medicare beneficiaries, family members, caregivers, and professionals. Healthcare errors, fraud and abuse cost you, as an American taxpayer, billions of dollars annually and may cost you your life or the life of a loved one. If you or someone you know has been subjected to questionable billing practices and/or deceptive marketing tactics related to healthcare contact the NYS SMP Program at 800-333-4374.

The NYS SMP Program is one of 54 SMP programs across the country including Washington DC, Puerto Rico, Guam and U.S. Virgin Islands. The NYS SMP Program is funded by the Administration For Community Living. To learn more about SMP programs visit www.smpresource.org.
