ACTION ALERT

Make 1 phone call to allow patient choice
StateWide has supported the Medical Aid in Dying bill for many years. This NYS bill allows terminally ill, mentally competent patients to have a choice, as part of their end of life medical decisions, to self-administer prescribed drugs for the purpose of ending one’s life. There are numerous safeguards included in the legislation that will allow a physician to prescribe the drugs. For more information, please read our newsletter article on page 6 found at this link.

For the first time after more than a decade of deliberations, this bill has passed the NYS Assembly and is now under consideration by the Senate.  We urge you to help us uphold patients’ rights to autonomy, dignity and self-determination.

1 call needed:  Call the NY Senate switchboard at 518-455-2800 and ask to be connected to your State Senator’s office.  If you are not sure who represents you in the Senate fill in your address at this link.
