StateWide Board Member Michele Rogers spoke at a press conference with US Senator Charles Schumer at the Glens Falls Senior Center on August 14 to celebrate the special anniversary, noting that it has that lifted generations out of poverty.  Social Security is a vital financial support for people today – not just retirees, but survivors of workers and persons with disabilities as well – and needs to be kept strong for generations to come.  Michele urged steps be taken to ensure adequate staffing of Social Security Administration phones and offices. She also remarked that the Social Security Trust Fund needs to be secured to ensure full benefits can continue to be paid. Michele encouraged everyone, of every age, to celebrate and work to make sure the system works for all of us and for future generations.
