Home Care Crisis.

StateWide is providing leadership to advocate on a new policy platform to address recruitment and retention incentives for home care workers.  We have found significant gaps in services based on a shortage of needed home care workers that allow a senior in need of assistance to remain in their own homes. grassroots day 2014 3

  May 10, 2016 – Hundreds of New York seniors participated in Grassroots Advocacy Day and showed support for Safe Staffing legislation.  Read StateWide’s position paper on safe staffing ratios.

Over 350 seniors visited state legislators, attended briefings or participated in a rally in support of safe patient staffing.

It’s important to show the strength of a unified senior voice for quality health care and consumer protections.

October 22, 2013.  NYS Legislation requiring hospitals to disclose to Medicare enrollees whether they are admitted under inpatient billing (Medicare Part A) or observation status (Medicare Part B) has been signed into law by Governor Cuomo.  Read StateWide’s Press Release

Federal legislation is pending to have observation status hospital stays count toward rehab the same way that inpatient days so.  Read more.
